XIV music
Live Downtempo and Trip Hop Multimedia Performance from San Diego. The music of XIV is a dark and melodic blend of live and electronic sounds combining elements of Trip Hop, Down Tempo and Jazz. Sultry vocals by Kelly Samuels' weave seamlessly into a rich tapestry of Nathan Samuels' hypnotic melodies and throbbing beats as well as Tony Sandoval's deep, driving bass lines. Their second studio album 'Theta' retains the dark and dreamy film-score quality of their first release, 'ETA', with tracks like 'Drain' and 'Woe is Me', but ventures into new territory with the faster pace of tracks like 'Here I Stand' and 'What It's Like'. Many of the fourteen new tracks on this release (like 'Either/Or' and 'Interruption') have an anthem like quality which have earned XIV recognition from an ever-expanding audience. The hit single 'Concrete Flowers' is featured on San Diego's 'Staring at the Sun' compilation and is being played by San Diego radio stations like KPRI.
XIV's live performance has been stunning crowds in prestigious San Diego venues like The Onyx Room and House of Blues. Despite having only three members, the audience is treated to a multimedia presentation of video projections, lights, props, costumes, and a musical performance featuring up to 10 different instruments. With lyrical and visual themes of alchemy, politics, counter culture, and mysticism, seeing XIV live is a completely different experience than just going to see a 'band.' XIV's stage setup and sound is adaptable to most any type of setting, from intimate clubs and lounges to large scale venues and stages. Live sets can be adapted to fit the style and atmosphere of your venue or event. You can listen to clips from both of their albums right from their website. Their innovative sound lends itself to the Movie industry as well as Documentaries, TV series, TV Specials and Advertising. Contact XIV booking at 619.519.1817 for more details.
