SIMTOOLS GmbH provides tools for developers of distributed control applications. The tools are integrated with the model-based design environment MATLAB/Simulink and support communication standards like FlexRay and CAN. By supporting different workflows the tools provide seamless model-to-code capabilities. Customers include the automotive and other transportation industries as well as research institutions and academia.
The SIMTOOLS / SIMTARGET toolboxes are integrated into the MATLAB® / Simulink® development environment and support a seamless design flow from a virtual prototype on a PC to automatic application code generation for dedicated ECUs. The development steps consist of System-level modelling activities as well as single ECU-level design and configuration. At the System-level all network aspects can be modelled, designed, configured and simulated at various levels of detail, including application and communication system timing information. Import/Export functions provide connectivity to tools from other vendors via standard file formats like .csv or FIBEX. At the ECU-level, capabilities for defining, configuring and code generation of a rest-bus (cluster) simulation are provided.
Code generation is done with the companion SIMTARGET product. The tight integration of SIMTOOLS with MATLAB / Simulink and of SIMTARGET with Real-Time Workshop® and Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder® provides a very powerful development environment as you can seamlessly transition your application developed as Simulink block diagram to the supported hardware platforms.
At the moment all available FlexRay Controllers and the Elektrobit hardware platforms are supported. New FlexRay implementations will be supported as they become available and support for other hardware platforms is added depending on customer preferences.
