Lillians Girl Design Unique Jewelry
Ani Khachian - Jewelry designer and founder of Lillian's Girl. In addition to my custom made jewelry I create a few designs just for fun. I strive to create designs that inspire and delight. I dedicate my Lillian's Girl jewelry line to people who do extraordinary things every day. My mother Lillian quietly worked toward helping me develop self confidence, determination, and core values, which have resulted in an emphasis on personal integrity. It is her love that has empowered me to develop this jewelry line, and her extraordinary inspiration breathes into each handmade one-of-a-kind or limited quantity piece. I hope you enjoy the whimsy that I capture in each piece. I design my pieces in Darien, Connecticut, and find materials and jewels from areas spanning the globe, bringing the extraordinary into your everyday jewelry. The beauty you wear makes a statement. As I design, I seek more ecologically sound and environmentally responsible ways to work. A good portion of my silver findings, wire and sheet used in my Lillian’s Girl jewelry items are made from recovered silver. I hand select my silver suppliers and incorporate sustainable or recycled wire and sheet in my designs. Their recovered silver is carefully measured and processed to ensure that it meets the highest standards of purity and quality. My suppliers recycle more precious metal than they use, creating what is called “usage offset.” As a jewelry designer, I want to do my part to protect the environment, and I want to make you feel even better about your jewelry investment. Awards. I am deeply grateful to have been awarded First Prize at the 18th Annual Silvermine Student Art Show. My winning piece, “Floral Notes of the Alhambra,” was my very first formal piece of jewelry created in the workshop studio at Silvermine under the skilled and talented tutelage of Raychel Wengenroth. Inspiration for this piece came from Dr. Abraham Terian’s teachings and lectures on Icons as depicted in ancient manuscripts and Haratoun Merzian’s study lecture on the use of iconography of the cross in 9th and 12th century Armenian gravestones. To quote Dr. Terian, An image of an image of an archetype is imperative to capture the soul. How I got here. My sons are the sparks that have changed the professional direction of my life. It is through nurturing them that I discovered and recognized my own creative design abilities, eye for detail and talent in the use of color. I graduated from Manhattanville College with a degree in Management and minored in mathematics. My third area of concentration was Philosophy. I studied at St. Claire’s in Oxford, England, and held positions in the Merger & Acquisition Department of Chemical Bank, Lehman Brothers and Purdue Pharma. All a far cry from this very fulfilling and enriching pursuit I now enjoy! Lillian’s Girl Design Unique Jewelry Custom Icon Style Artist
