Rick Sanchez is an award-winning journalist, anchor and author with over 25 years of experience. More than that, he is a father, a son, a husband, a friend.
In 2010, Rick was let go by CNN over comments he made about Jon Stewart, minorities and discrimination during a radio interview.
This incident was widely misreported by the media. Rick's quotes were part of an hour-long interview and most people, both journalists and the public, never heard them in context. The headlines got the story wrong--very wrong--but unfortunately, the headlines overrode reality.
FriendsofRickSanchez.com exists for no other purpose than to correct the record, to present information in one location so that people can learn the facts, educate themselves and judge Rick's comments for themselves. There is no filter. In fact, most of the items here are simply Rick's own words or those of journalists, colleagues and other media outlets. And people from the left and the right, as diverse as Christopher Hitchens and Lou Dobbs, have come out in defense of Rick and made the case that Rick's comments were not anti-Semitic.
This is a site put up by Rick's friends and paid for in its entirety by Rick's friends. We did this because we care about Rick and can no longer sit by and watch a man judged--his life and reputation ruined--because of one moment, one comment, one headline.
We did this because Rick's comments have been taken out of context, misconstrued and misreported.
We know Rick. We know his heart. We know that the information out there is wrong and incomplete. We know that the caricature put forward of Rick created by comedians and columnists is a distortion and a fiction. Now, we want all of you to know that to.
