Transient Theatre Site
Transient Company is a company which creates and tours movement based performance. Physical theatre, mask, mime, & contemporary dance are focused into powerful theatre which is engaging, spontaneous and timeless in appeal. The company has toured consistently over eight years, developing works for experimental, festival, metropolitan and regional venues. Transient brings together the experience of a partnership between Julieanne Hansen & Tony Kishawi. Tony has many years of experience in community theatre, object theatre, mask and mime, via performance, teaching and directing throughout Australia. He has also worked solo in Europe and Japan. In recent years he has become well known as a practiioner of the Italian mask form, commedia dell ‘arte. Julieanne has a background in contemporary dance as a performer, maker and teacher. Working collaboratively and as a solo artist, principally in Queensland. Since Transients inception, Julieanne has been developing the connections between the physicality of dance and drama, particularly through maskwork. As well as Transient Company, Tony & Julieanne have been co-initiators of two significant community based projects, The Cherry Herring & the Angry Mime. Transients work includes effective and popular educational performances. The focus of this work is to communicate with students. Enabling them to gain insight and inspiration into the many possibilities of physical performance. Our development of a quality resource of commedia dell’arte masks has come about due to numourous requests by teachers who have seen our productions.
