Mark Tessier Landscape Architecture
Mark Tessier Landscape Architecture is a design firm with a focus on innovation in the design of exterior spaces. Owner and Principal, Mark Tessier, ASLA, has over 20 years of experience in the fields of Landscape Architecture, planning and garden design. Before opening this office in 2004, Mark spent the previous 10 years at Rios Associates in Los Angeles, where he was Senior Associate of the Landscape Architecture Studio. His cumulative experience with municipal, corporate and residential projects guides his firm’s creative approach to design solutions. Inspiration for our designs is intrinsic to the project, its site-specific elements and client vision. In conjunction with these elements, our design expertise also draws from historical references, art, patterns, product research, materials, and life experiences; it is this collaboration that allows us to create a unique and appropriate solution. This is true from larger scale urban projects to residential gardens. It allows us to explore all aspects of a project and to utilize the thread of landscape to unify the components that define an exterior environment while creating a balance between nature in the context of that environment and the demands of the user group or Client. It is a primary goal of this office to promote a philosophy of sustainability and the responsible use of resources. Our ever-growing passion for celebrating the Southern California climate and associated plant palette is rooted in early horticultural training. The local climate and geography encourage us to draw inspiration from around the world thus allowing us to utilize a vast array of species from similar climates. We strive to design inspirational environments that are climatically appropriate, using a planting palette that enriches the built space and respects the demands of the site, the client, the site users and the natural ecosystem. In addition to aesthetic vision, technical expertise is paramount in the successful development of projects from the initial concept phase to construction documentation. An extensive knowledge of construction methods, in addition to our on-going participation in the construction administration component of project administration, allows us to design with particular regard for the demands that time and use require of any exterior space.
