I discovered my passion for photography after I turned 50. I had no idea that it would bring me so much joy. To spend an entire day traveling around the beautiful state of Vermont (or anywhere I am traveling), camera and tripod ever at the ready, is my idea of an excellent day.
I am basically self taught, coming to the world of photography and artistic expression from a very left brained world of business and finance. I have taken a few classes and enjoy chatting at length with fellow photographers. I started by mastering my first camera, moved on to studying composition, and continued the process of acquiring/upgrading equipment and software and studying magazines, manuals and any source of information I could. As with all things, the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know.
Although the “computer” side of photography is interesting, it is the time in the field that has the most appeal. Exploring the back roads, seeking the extraordinary in the ordinary, rising early to capture the magical light of dawn, scoping out an inspiring location and waiting hours for the right moment, revisiting favorite spots and capturing a whole new vision of a familiar place—these bring me joy and a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible good fortune that is my life.
The motivation for my work is my desire to find and share the beautiful places I discover in my travels. If my images capture the beauty of the moment in a way that transport you in some way, then my efforts are successful.
With gratitude,
Teena
