JOHN SZABO | MASTER SOMMELIER
John Szabo is Canada's first and currently only Master Sommelier, earning the title from the Court of Master Sommeliers in London, England in 2004. He also holds the Wine and Spirits Education Trust Diploma, passing with honours in 2000, as well as the Canadian Sommelier Guild Diploma from 1999. He has been working in the hospitality business at home and abroad for over 15 years, filling many positions including cook, sommelier, wine importer, restaurant & winery consultant, educator, wine writer and winemaker. Today, John reviews, writes, blogs, consults with restaurants, judges nationally and internationally, teaches, speaks, voices his views on radio, and co-hosts the online series Wine guy vs. Beer guy. All, that is, when hes not traveling the wine regions of the world in search of the best, or making his own wine from his small vineyard in Eger, Hungary.
