Wrenn’s Nest, built in 1908, is the historic Monteagle, Tennessee home of Ensign George Leonidas Wrenn and his wife, Nora Cousar Wrenn. Originally from Gunnison, Mississippi, Mr. Wrenn (b.1838) served in both the Confederate and United States Army during the Civil War. Having retired to live in the mountains, the Wrenn’s who were quite wealthy built Wrenn's Nest into a very attractive home with cattle and sheep grazing in the fields. There were also fruit-bearing orchards planted adding to the beauty of the home. Mrs. Wrenn continued living at Wrenn's Nest after the death of her husband in 1912 and spent much of her time canning fruits and making pottery in the basement of the house. In September of 1936, Mrs. Wrenn died and willed the house and property to the Board of Missions, who later sold it to Mrs. May W. Taylor in 1941. Mrs. Taylor sold to Mr. and Mrs. B. N.
