80s Tv Shows
For a lot of us born in the 60s and 70s, TV time is something we treasure as kids and teenagers. While I remember spending a lot of time playing with my siblings and cousins during early afternoons, I can never forget the late afternoon cartoons til dinnertime. The 80s TV shows had so much impact to the so-called Generation X. Play time has never been the same. Role plays, pretend play, doodles on our notebooks of Voltron and Smurfs, and the name of Johnny Depp from 21 Jumpstreet written all over our school books. Our conversations over the phone or during the first hour in class would be of last night's episode of MacGyver or Moonlighting. We laugh our heart out on Bill Cosby's antics and Alf's punch lines. Although Mork really looks weird in those crazy suspenders, we always wondered on how precise he delivers his lines; darn, nobody else can do that! The 80s TV Shows became an escape for some of us. The shows made us laugh and cry; sigh and get high with excitement. The geeks in my class wouldn't stop ranting how magnificent MacGyver would get out of any dangerous situation while I tell them how I prefer the style and boldness of Michael Knight. The pressure from our school teachers and our fear of being scolded by our parents wane off, but not our love for the dramedy of Maddie and David in Moonlighting. We forget how difficult that Algebra homework was, besides we can always do it on the way to school. But never, God forbid, miss an episode of the A-Team. The 80s TV shows posed mostly of positive values, that good always prevails over evil kind of themes. It inspired most of us who were growing up to be lyrical poets, fearless crime fighters, stylish detectives, mad scientists and versatile artists. Television allowed us to dream and believe that there is more to life than those formulas and algebraic expressions that twisted our brains every single day. What would life be then without the 80s TV shows? I don't think we would ever survive puberty without the help of Cliff and Claire Huxtable! The 80's has become a decade of hiphop when it was born in many songs that left legacy, like the late MC Hammer, who brought many remarkable songs for hiphop during that period and among many names in the entertainment industry. The decade was also an era of Michael Jackson who we all know that he dominated both the music and TV industry by storm.
