Foss Waterway Seaport — WELCOME
The Foss Waterway Seaport is the home of the Working Waterfront Maritime Museum and Boat Shop. The Foss Waterway Seaport Project, is a current redevelopment project that will expand the Working Waterfront Maritime Museum in Tacoma, WA. The new site will support educational programs, provide on-water access for the commnuity, showcase the area's rich working waterfront maritime heritage. The new facility will be the Pacific Northwest's most comprehensive maritime heritage education and recreational resource. The Working Waterfront Maritime Museum in Tacoma, WA is building a permanent venue to tell the dramatic story of the people, workers, and risk-taking business adventurers who built, and today sustain, our region's working waterfront life and commerce. The Foss Waterway Seaport leads a growing community effort to preserve it's home, the 107–year old elegantly trussed Balfour Dock building, the last surviving section of the mile long warehouse, where it will permanently locate it's exhibits and programs. It will be the only authentic facility in the Pacific Northwest situated at the city's economic and cultural birthplace.
