The Desiderio funeral home was established in Wilkes-Barre.1932 serving the community for over 65 years. The Mountaintop facility was opened 1975, because of concerns from the religious community and the general public, for full-service facility to handle the growth of the Mountaintop, and surrounding communities. With that in mind, we decided to find convenient location with unlimited access to major highways. After months of research, a location just past Konns Corners on Route 309 was selected. The facility is located six miles from the two major highways in the United States. Route 80 and Route 81. A little out of away from mainstream Mountaintop, but much easier to access. The facility is over 8000 square feet, with two viewing rooms, a smoking room, and a large casket showroom. A large parking lot to accommodate over 100 cars. The Mountaintop as well as Wilkes-Barre facilities were built specifically as Funeral Homes, unique to Luzerne County. Providing the families we serve with convenience reverence and privacy they deserve, By providing them with large viewing rooms a reposing Room and private areas that they have for their use.The funeral home and staff are able to handle the largest of funerals. To Date, over 1000 people in a four-hour period. Came to pay their respects, without any disruption to the bereaved families. A facility large enough to serve yet small enough to care.
