Welcome to the French Confection
We are a French bakery/cafe/pastry shop in Sandy Spring, Montgomery County, MD. The baker, Xavier Mauprivez, is a 5th generation baker who grew up in his parents' bakery in Reims, France. All the breakfast pastries (croissants, brioche, danish, sticky buns, etc), desserts (cakes, pies, tarts, eclairs, napoleons, mousse, assorted mini pastries, etc.), and snacks (cookies, macaroons, meringues, palmiers, biscotti, etc.) are made from scratch. In addition to custom cakes and pastries for birthdays, anniversaries, bar/bat mitzvahs, communions, and graduations, we make wedding cakes and cupcakes. If you are looking for traditional French holiday desserts such as Croquembouche, Buche de Noel, Galette des Rois, or Mardi Gras cake, give us a call. Some of our traditional French desserts are naturally gluten-free. With indoor/outdoor seating and coffee, espresso, or tea to accompany your pastry, you will find The French Confection to be a pleasant place to sit and enjoy fine baked goods. Since we're open 6AM to 6PM on weekdays, you might pick up goodies on your way to or from work. We're also open Saturdays from 7AM to 5PM.
