Points of Pride:
Consistently high MEAP scores reflect high student achievement. Kindergarten program offers families a choice of three schedules.
Emphasis on basics in a traditional environment with high expectations.
Real-life and extracurricular experiences such as student council, school store, and after-school reading club. Active Parent-Teacher-Community Organization promotes cultural arts.
School Improvement:
Our building improvement team consists of parents, teachers, support staff, and the principal. This team provides leadership as we focus on our goals of increased student achievement, parent involvement, and community relations. Our students will demonstrate the ability to think creatively, work collaboratively, and communicate their knowledge to others.
Accreditation:
West has been accredited by the North Central Association since 1992. In 1996, West received Summary (highest) Accreditation from the Michigan Department of Education.
Parent Participation:
West has a very active Parent Teacher Organization, and students benefit from approximately 100 parent volunteers who are very visible helpers at school every day and also support our Open House, holiday celebrations, and various fundraisers.
