Montana Assistance Program
The Montana Assistance Program or MAP is a CONFIDENTIAL program for health care workers who may be impaired by substance abuse and or other behavioral health problems. For most health care workers asking for help is a primary barrier. Fear and shame about their situation and possible impact to their license are common and tend to keep individuals isolated from resources essential to getting the help needed. In most situations individuals can enter services anonymously to the public or licensure board. Even when there have been formal complaints to a licensure board, individuals are often given the option of a non-disciplinary intervention if they are willing to enter a program contract. Our core beliefs are that untreated Chemical Dependency and some behavioral health issues, may pose a risk to public safety. Untreated, these issues facilitate enormous cost to individuals, patients, families and communities. Health care workers are valued talented people, vital to a healthy community. With help and the appropriate resources and intervention, these issues can be arrested or managed. We know people can return or remain in safe practice and can establish hope that may have been lost through the shame and pain of untreated illness
