Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care (OHPCO) | Ohio Home Care Organization (OHCO) -- Promoting the highest quality hospice, home, and palliative care services.
Promoting the highest quality hospice, home, and palliative care services. Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (OHPCO), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, was chartered in 1979 in response to the need to promote hospice care and to support the growth and development of provider programs through education, advocacy and technical information. Originally known as the Ohio Hospice Organization, its name was changed in 1999 to Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care Organization in order to promote the development of palliative care programs.
Consisting of a membership of 80 of the 115 hospice providers in Ohio, the organization is supported by member dues, grants, and contributions. OHPCO offers education to professionals, coordinates projects that are consistent with their mission, engages in advocacy, and promotes public policy changes that support quality care at the end of life and for those with life threatening illnesses.
In December, 2006, OHPCO expanded to develop a new home care division, Ohio Home Care Organization (OHCO), which also offers education, technical information and advocacy to its members. OHCO has 42 home care organization members.
