32 terrorists took over a school in the town of Beslan in North Ossetia, Russia. These terrorists took nearly 1200 hostages, the majority of the hostages being children, and held them captive for days without food or water, or even being allowed to use the toilets. Many people were shot in the back while trying to escape, and even more died when they were huddled into the school's gymnasium which the terrorists rigged with explosives. The explosives detonated and the roof collapsed, causing most of the approximately 350 deaths.
