Original Projects - Play Me a Song
I am a violin teacher and am always looking for ways for my students to use their music to make a difference.
This past December, my 20 month old son was diagnosed with Leukemia. During my first week back teaching lessons, my son was still miserable from chemotherapy. An 11 year old student played a lovely Gavotte for my son as he sat in my lap. I was moved by how sincerely and musically he played and how intentionally he tried to engage my son in the performance.
How wonderful it would be for all sick children to have music performed just for them. How wonderful would it be to enable children and adults, amateurs and professionals to share their music with others - from the heart and without judgment or pretense.
Music has the power to heal, distract, bring joy, humor, strength, compassion and connection to others - without words, without even a physical presence.
This is a website where children and adults who are home- or hospital-bound can post requests for music. Other users can browse the requests and upload their own audio or video recording of song or piece of music just for a special person.
Sing a lullaby, enlist your music ensemble or class at school, play an instrument, bring the garage band back together, come here to share your music and brighten someone's day.
