Mowlana Bhashani
Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani (1880-1976) was a politico-religious leader who used non-violence and mass civil disobedience to promote nationalism in Assam, Bengal, and East Pakistan. Unshakable in his belief in God and human dignity, Bhashani campaigned, at times single-handedly, against the vested interests to realize and protect the rights of the deprived - landless peasants, workers, and hapless migrants. He articulated the grievances of toiling masses and put them firmly on political agenda, earning him the title, Mazlum Jono Netha – People’s Leader of the Oppressed
