A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men (Proverbs 18:31).
The truth of this proverb has been witnessed in the ministry of Robert I.M. Soverall. Through the gift of drawing people into the presence of God through music, God has brought Bobby (as he is affectionately called) into the presence of great men and women, particularly those in the body of Christ.
Ever since his childhood, Bobby Soverall has been instructed, inspired and impressed by the power of music. Though trained in the genre of European Classical Music, church music has always had its greatest impact on Bobby’s spiritual growth. Combined with the God-given ability to improvise Bobby masterfully interprets the oldest of hymns as well as the contemporary repertoire.
God’s hand has been on Bobby through 22 years of piano instruction, the attainment of a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College in New York, 10 years of classroom instruction, and nearly 25 years as a private instructor. Through struggle and success, failure and victory, God has prepared Bobby for multi-faceted ministerial endeavors.
From 1996-2008, Bobby served the kingdom as the musical director for Integrity Recording Artist Alvin Slaughter. Bobby is the founder of ANGELIC HOST MINISTRIES, a music ministry that preaches the gospel through contemporary music. Bobby has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, Africa, The Philippines and Australia. As a result, his ministry seeks to bless and strengthen the body of Christ, regardless of denominational persuasion. Bobby ministers as a worship leader, choral director, piano instructor, teacher, speaker, songwriter, producer, and recording artist. At present, he is the Minister of Music at The Valley Stream Baptist Church in Valley Stream, NY. Having been ordained as a Pastor in June of 2009, Bobby also serves as one of the Associate Pastors at his home church.
Pastor Soverall authored an instructional book, entitled PLAY SKILLFULLY, and a brief devotional entitled THE FRAGRANCE OF WORSHIP. The latter work provides a look into Bobby’s heart cry: to worship GOD in spirit and in truth. He has also completed a yet-to-be-titled daily devotional based on the Psalms and a study on the New Covenant entitled NEW.
Bobby has recorded 6 CD’s, including the recently released YOU ALONE—a musical offering which uses Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs to lead the listener into a worship experience devoted to GOD alone.
Bobby and his wife Patricia reside in the New York City area and have two children- Judah and Rebekah. They form a family devoted to fulfilling the will of God, and obeying the voice of GOD while building the kingdom of God.
