Northwest Ohio is host to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The area is home to the Oak Openings region, a unique oak savanna habitat that supports more rare species than anywhere else in Ohio. Within a short driving distance is the great expanse of Lake Erie and the surrounding marshlands. The southwestern shore is a prime stopover for northbound migrating songbirds, and the sheer size of the lake tends to create a funneling effect, concentrating southbound migrants into the area.
Nearly all of the photographs on this site were taken within a short distance of my Northern Wood County home; many in my back yard.
