Media Prima
A decade and a half can pass before the flicker of an eyelid.
Formed in 1995, Media Prima has gone from a tiny operation to the Gulf region’s leading independent publisher, with representation in a dozen countries and sales on every continent. Our headquarters are situated in downtown Dubai and on Central London’s prestigious Harley Street.
We have striven to adhere to our principles of high quality publishing of a decidedly independent nature, integrity with flair, and we believe that this is what has set us apart.
From our early publishing efforts in the mid-1990s, today we count among our back catalogue biographies on some of the world’s most influential leaders, statesmen and women, the current or past leaders of ten nations or states.
Elsewhere, our Legends of the Turf series is now heading towards its ninth edition, having sold over 120,000 copies and become the world’s best selling book on Thoroughbred racing. Our other equestrian titles include Endurance: The Sport of Sheikhs, and books on the equine heritage of Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
In the last five years we have branched out to include value corporate books on Emirates, Dnata, Dubai Courts, SriLankan and several others still under production. By ‘value’ we mean that they contain comprehensive editorial, genuine reading material, a body of research that adds something to the subject, not simply a slavish monologue or — worse — a picture book that sits on the shelf collecting dust.
And then is our filmography. The latest edition to Media Prima’s operation is a production arm that grew from short-films produced for show in conjunction with our book launches. In the last two years we have made two documentaries, and worked with Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman and British television personality Terry Wogan.
Not too poor for a company that began life as a fledgling operation with two directors and a tea boy!
