Liga’s work holds a hint of beauty and passion and in some cases fantasy. “Reality becomes transcribed, manipulated or enhanced through photography. I am not arguing that reality never existed through the camera lens. As a footprint is to a foot, so is a photograph to its referent. A photograph of something is still proof of that thing’s being, even if not of its truth. We must acknowledge this representation and understand that a photograph is merely an image-idea of the real.” Liga writes on photography. “It’s risky putting yourself either in front or behind the camera.” states Liga. Liga’s work has been created using mostly film and several alternative photo processes. This includes polaroid, polaroid transfers, platinum and palladium prints and lithprints. These days Liga owns a digital camera. She collects and studies old prints, negatives and cameras. She participates in gallery shows, and her prints are in several private collections.
