Lawrence Heyda - Bronze Portrait Sculpture, Goldsmith
Lawrence Heyda is a sculptor who has made portrait sculpture his passion for the last 40 years. He has received commissions from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, the Franklin MInt, Cadillac Corporation, and many religious organizations in the US, Europe and India. Lawrence has done special effects for many Hollywood motion pictures, making life masks and urethane and fiberglass figures of Wesley Snipes, Chris Cooper, etc. Lawrence also sculpted many figurines for the Noble Collection from the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films, including Aragorn, Arwen, Frodo, Gandalf and Golom. Early in his career, he sculpted movie stars and famous people for Movieland Wax Museum and others, creating life-size figures of Lorne Green, Johnny Cash, Humphrey Bogart, Pete Fountain, and Governor Edwin W. Edwards. Lawrence also sculpted many sports personalities like Joe DiMaggio, Wayne Gretzky, Ted Williams, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lawrence has run his own bronze foundry and is a master at the cire perdue process of lost wax casting, ceramic shell molding, bronze casting and patina. Lawrence Heyda's art and figurative sculpture often depicts various periods of history like the Amercan Civil War or the Middle Ages. His pewter statues of famous personalities like Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and J.E.B. Stuart capture their likeness with great accuracy. Lawrence has always admired the jewelry masterpieces of jewelers like Faberge and Lalique. He is now creating unique miniature automaton sculptures made of gold and silver with precious gems and guilloche enameling in the tradition of the finest goldsmith.
