Aaron Kellner | Linear Sculpture - New Orleans
My sculpture represents my attempt to explore how form fills space, and how those forms affect their environment. I find myself drawn to objects which express function, while fulfilling my desire to observe good design. I enjoy creating an abstract atmosphere that will, hopefully, produce thought-provoking conversation.
I work mainly in the modular form because of its flexibility and its potential to create an infinite variety of complex systems. Dynamic tension, balance and composition are some of the main elements I try to address in every piece. For inspiration, I draw from my interest in cubism, minimalism, modern architecture, systems theory and the emergent properties found in nature.
I see my work as an expression of the beauty inherent in math and geometry. I enjoy integrating the organic textures and colors of exotic woods, stone, and glass, and appreciate the results when they are combined with the “industrial” look of metals. But new and different elements are being explored as I develop new forms.
I hope that you will find in my art that the sum is more interesting than its individual parts.
