Formerly an abstract painter, Jeanne Wilkinsons paintings are now one element in digital collages and video animations that are eerie amalgams, narratives of primal forces and deep connections with our earth, some of which hint at the apocalyptic nature of 21st century life on earth. Using various computer tools, she merges her paintings, drawings and self-portraits with her photos of nature and cities. Her animated pieces feature her own abstract musical compositions made also on the computer. One series depicts the continuing vision-quests of a Paleo-Postmodern migratory clan, the Painted People. Former Barbies, Kens, GI Joes, they trek across the face of an earth that reacts to their presence by becoming more alive, more revelatory of underlying forces. Cities turn into strange night places, streets become fluid streams, skies morph into oceans and webs of life, buildings harbor and dissolve into fantastic life-forms. Called iridescent by Dan Bischoff the NJ Star Ledger, the growing clan traverses a world that has been altered to reflect a world of premonition, environmental change (apocalypse?) and natural magic. Her work has been shown extensively in NYC and internationally.
