Nahid Tabatabai | ناهید طباطبایی
Nahid Tabatabai was born in 1959 in Tehran, where she is still living today. She holds a
B.A. in dramatic literature and playwrighting.
She started her writing career by publishing her first short story in Donya-e Sokhan
magazine in 1992. She published her first collection of short stories, “Banou va Javanie
khish” (The Lady and her youth) in 1993. In 1999 she received the honorary diploma for
her second collection of short stories “ Hozour-e Abi-e Mina” (Blue presence of Mina) as
one of the best books of past twenty years in Iran’s literature. Prof. Anna Vanzan translated
her third short story collection “Jam-e daran” into Italian in 2004.
Tabatabai was a member of the jury at the first “Sadeq Hedayat” short story competition
in 2003 as well as at the second Isfahan literature festival.
