Pilates4HorseRiders
When you watch world class riders working in perfect harmony with their horses looking balanced, strong, supple and focused on their performance, it is not unusual to ask how do they do that?. When a horse and rider have near perfect form, they move together, they are balanced, supple and strong, showing a high level of focus and control. How can you achieve that level of riding skill when your own lifestyle and genes have conspired to create imbalances in your body?. Particularly as when combined with your horse, your imbalances become exaggerated and change your horse as it moves to adapt to you.
Pilates4HorseRiders will help you in achieving a balanced, supple, strong and focused body. Pilates4HorseRiders has created an exercise method using Pilates exercises specifically tailored to the horse rider. These Pilates exercises have been chosen and developed following intense research into the riders needs. I have observed hundreds of hours of riding and discussed the needs of riders with instructors judges and the riders themselves. I have also taken up riding myself to gain the knowledge and experience essential for a complete system. From the first lesson my years of practice as a Pilates instructor allowed me to balance with ease.
Pilates4HorseRiders is not just an exercise class. The principles of the originator, Joseph Pilates, are used to tailor the exercises to each individual. Joseph Pilates designed exercises to fit his individual clients imbalances and weaknesses creating an holistic system that worked. The up to date knowledge of biomechanics of rider and horse have been analyzed and incorporated into the Pilates4horseriders sessions. The aims of the program are postural balance, core strength and suppleness, but the focus on each movement and its relationship to the breath is what makes Pilates unique for rider improvement. Without that focus it is just an exercise class.
Pilates4HorseRiders programs assess each individual rider and help them to gain awareness of imbalances in their body. You will learn to connect with your body and feel the centre of your balance and to engage the muscles of the core to monitor and control balance. When the rider engages core muscles it allows the shoulders, arms and legs to become free to move independently without their recruitment for your stability. When this is achieved it has a calming effect upon the rider’s whole body. Without the shoulders lifting, arms tight or legs needing to grip a profound and noticeable stillness is found which is transferred to the horse. />
