Woods Hole Woodcuts • Jane Fay Baker
Most of my prints are iconographic studies of marine life, inspired by years of attending Science School in Woods Hole and the fact that my mother worked at the National Marines Fisheries, giving me after hours access to drawing the contents of the aquarium tanks. My prints are created in editions of 50 or less and are all drawn, carved and printed by hand. The past few years I have been painting in addition to making wood cuts, trying to create small landscapes based on my experiences in and around Woods Hole. The birth of my daughter Eloise 2 years ago, inspired a return to silk-screening on fabrics. She and her cousins now wear a variety of Weezies Onsies.
