Multimedia Journalist. New Media Strategist. Design Enthusiast. Geoffrey Bennett is a multimedia journalist and new media strategist with a background in online, print, and broadcast news. Based in Washington, D.C., Geoffrey is an editor for Weekend Edition on National Public Radio. He is a former digital producer and editor for NPR’s News & Notes, which broadcast from Los Angeles. He reported weekly on tech news and new media trends, while managing the online presence of the news and public affairs talk show. Before heading West, Geoffrey was a reporter and editor for AOL Television in New York. He conducted wide-ranging interviews with TV talent, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Vanessa Williams and Alec Baldwin. His reviews and coverage of the television industry helped the channel maintain its status as the Internet’s most-visited TV news site. Geoffrey began his journalism career at ABC News’ World News Tonight Weekend. He later served as an associate producer for ABCNews.com, overseeing the websites of World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and the Brian Ross Investigative Unit. While at ABC News, Geoffrey produced widely read online reports for then senior national correspondent Jake Tapper and was among the staff that launched ABC News Now, a first-of-its-kind online video news channel. In 2003, he helped craft what later became Current, the groundbreaking TV network founded by Al Gore. Geoffrey — a 2008 Loyola Journalist Law School Fellow — serves on the board of The National Center for Global Engagement and is an ASCAP-affiliated songwriter. He is an honors graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
