Genevieve Lilley graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991 with the University Medal, and left Australia soon after under the auspices of the two-year Marten Bequest. She lived briefly in Spain and Italy before settling in the UK, where she worked for 8 years for the renowned British architect David Chipperfield on a variety of public, private and retail commissions. She established her own practice in London in 1999, and re-established it in Sydney in 2005, after returning from London via two years in the USA. She has, at times, collaborated with other architects, including Leigh Prentice and Stephen Collier. She works deliberately at a small scale, alternating architectural and interior and furniture commissions with the design of jewellery for Venerari in Sydneys Strand Arcade
