Cinephile Academy :: Sheldon Candis: Filmmaker
Baltimore native Sheldon Candis is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Sheldon’s documentary THE DWELLING, chronicles the lives of two homeless men living along Tokyo's Sumida Gawa. The film is being distributed by Scion and Giant Robot magazine. Sheldon has also created short films for THE BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION, ROCK THE VOTE, and world infamous street artist BANKSY.
Sheldon is a recent fellow in the prestigious Film Independent – Director’s Lab with his next directorial effort LEARNING UNCLE VERNON. The dramatic-thriller screenplay tells the story of a thirteen-year-old orphaned boy searching for a father figure, but not finding the right one in his recently released from prison uncle. All in the course of one day within the mean streets of Baltimore City, the kid who once revered his uncle must stand to stop him.
Sheldon’s most recent short film THE WALK tells the dramatic story of a wheelchair-bound septuagenarian who builds a robot suit with his grandson in an attempt to walk again.
