Welcome to David Kessner's Web Site
David Kessner began his musical career in the San Francisco Bay Area playing
keyboards and writing songs for local bands in the mid 1960's. In 1968 he
founded Prune Music in Berkeley, which was one of the first underground
music stores in the country run by and for musicians. Soon after he opened
Prune Music in Mill Valley and moved to Marin County. In the 1970¹s he
owned and operated The Church Studio in San Anselmo, one of the first
underground recording studios where clients included Boz Scaggs, Steve
Miller Jerry Garcia, The Sons of Champlin, Pharoh Sanders and many others.
Since then he has continued his playing and recording career with Etta
James, Graham Nash, Michael Bloomfield, Mary Wells, Lydia Pense & Cold
Blood, and many others. His original songs have been published by Warner
Brothers Music and EMI Music and have been in films and commercials as well
as being covered by other artists.
