Endangered Threads Documentaries: Recording Endangered Indigenous Art Forms
Endangered Threads Documentaries, a nonprofit 501c3 that produces educational documentary videos on endangered indigenous art forms like Maya weaving. Illustrations include photos from San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Sacatepéuez and Panajachel, Sololá. Maya weaver Esperanza Lopez wove the textile example shown on her back strap loom, and used supplementary weft brocading for the floral and geometric designs. The company's logo, a double headed eagle often used in Maya weaving, reminds us to look both to the future and the past when making decisions.
