Sarah McDonald - Artist
Sarah McDonald is a semi-abstract artist from Adelaide, Australia. In thick
layers of oil paint, built up and scratched away by brushes and palette
knives, McDonald creates richly textured paintings often inspired by urban
environments - the decaying architecture and dilapidated corners and
crevices of our industrial landscapes. Her richly layered and paintings
explore the idea about finding beauty in things unconventional, imperfect
and incomplete. She is drawn to the organic shapes and the layers of rich
colour coming through the painted and rusted surfaces, reminding me of the
elements of nature. Rich and intense use of colour is what people respond to
in Sarah's work.
