His recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, made when he was just sixteen, collected several international awards, and his following recording of Bach’s keyboard concerto No. 1 in D minor with Jiří Bělohlávek and the Prague Philharmonia won the Talent of the Year prize. He has worked extensively with the legendary violinist Josef Suk, his recording in 2008 of Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice and conductor Leoš Svárovský coupled with Sonata No. 24 Op 78, was highly recommended by international critics include “CD of the week” by the London reviewer Norman Lebrecht. During a period when he was unable to play in public because of health problems, Michal Mašek studied business, including marketing and PR, and he now exploits this as a producer of cultural projects.
