Who Invented The Light Bulb
If you ask people Who Invented the Light Bulb' they will answer Thomas Edison. Is that really the correct answer? I can tell you that history says otherwise. The first light bulb was really built by Humphry Dave in 1809. He was an Englishman scientist who liked experimenting with electricity. Did you know that he is responsible for the invention of the battery too? How did he come up with light? Simply by connecting electric wires to the battery and carbon; when the carbon was charged with electricity it glowed (it produced light). This lamp was called the arc lamp' and it was presented to the Royal Society. However, the lamp was not practical for domestic use as it was too bright and it required huge amounts of power that the batteries could not provide. When the electric generator was invented, adequate amounts of energy could be used for this arc lamp' and it was used in lighthouses as they needed great source of light. During the years, the arc lamp was used as search lights during wars and today it is used as searchlight next to movie theatres during new openings. You have certainly spotted these during night.
