Cellulose is the most abundant polymer on earth yet it must be chemically modified to function like water soluble polymers such as starch, guar gum, and other biopolymers. The conversion of cellulose into hydrocolloid polymers such as those offered by BioPolymer Industries results in semi-synthetic polymers with many unique properties useful in dust control, alternative daily cover and numerous erosion control applications. Using synthetic polymers such as polyvinyl acetate, polyacrylamide and latex can be more expensive and less efficient than when combined with BPI’s H Series polymers in the proper manner. Dramatic improvements in the performance of many erosion control systems have been accomplished through the use of BPI polymer products.
