Photo the Moment - Photography by Linda Austrian
After graduating from Barnard College with a major in Physics, Linda began her career in X-ray Crystallography taking x-ray photographs of protein crystals. She developed an innovative technique using Polaroid film. Years later, this early pursuit led to her interest in art photography and computer technology, both of which are integral to digital imaging.
Today Linda is an avid photographer who loves the freedom of the digital world. She seeks to capture the intimate feelings and splendor of all existence – nature and humanity, using both standard and macro lenses.
Photography gives her the perspective to notice beauty in the vastness of large-scale scenic views, in the intricacies and minutia of the macro world, and in the diversity of life in between. Her images are known for their purity and simplicity.
Linda is an active member of the Color Camera Club of Westchester, the Westchester Photographic Society and the Mamaroneck Artist's Guild. At each of these organizations, she has won awards in digital and in print competitions and exhibitions. Her action images of sailing regattas have appeared on the covers of both Larchmont Yacht Club and American Yacht Club publications. She has exhibited at numerous galleries in New York and Connecticut.
Linda welcomes your comments and questions by email at lbaustrian@optonline.net and PhotoTheMoment@optonline.net.
