Though it lacks a direct translation to English, the term carries meaning found within all relationships and human interaction. It is the quality of dependence upon the benevolence, the goodwill - the kindness of another. Amae is seen especially in the family, between a mother and child. The child partakes in amae when she or he realizes warmth and unconditional love of the mother. Amae is related to the verb amaeru, which is often translated to "to wish to be loved."
Amae Asian Fusion Restaurant has the mission of acknowledging this concept in its meticulous care, excellent customer service, and traditional cuisine. It seeks to embody the warmth of a family while also providing a quality of nurturance that can be remembered by all - the nurturance of a mother.
