ALEKSANDR (Sasha) CHERNYAK, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, was director and lead singer of the Russian folk ensemble, “Balalaika-Tranzit” and performed in major European festivals. Educated in Russia and Ann Arbor, he sings in Russian, English, Ukrainian, Polish, German, and Yiddish, accompanying himself on the balalaika and guitar, and includes audience participation. Sasha has performed for many school assemblies, open houses, libraries, fairs, and the Russian Cultural Center, all to rave reviews.
